On July 3, 2017 I began The Virtuous Heart Project. It’s an Instagram account committed to posting weekly devotions studying biblical virtues to encourage the growth of godliness.
TVH was designed so that we, the body of believers, can dig deeper into the Scriptures to comprehend what it means to show love, give grace, be obedient, live righteously, and so on. What is compassion? What is a gentle heart? How do we have an outlook full of gratitude? How do I show honor? Why does my speech matter? What The Virtuous Heart Project is really trying to get at is what does it mean to truly be a Christian, a person after God’s own heart? Christian literally means “little Christ” so we have been called to be His ambassadors in this world. So, what does that look like? Where does it start? It starts in our hearts. It starts by studying His Word.
For those of you who are interested in having a devotion posted, see the guidelines below! Also, go take a look at the account to see what it’s all about and the works that have already been published – click here to visit TVH!
- At least two verses quoted (does not need translation acronym)
- Elaborate on what the verses are saying in context (no proof-texting) and what it means for us; what is the application for believers?
- Try to limit the devotion between 1900-2000 characters (this is due to Instagram character limitations as well as to leave room for credit)
- Go to the Connect page, fill out the form, and in the comment paste your devotion. Please include your Instagram handle for credit!
Submissions will go straight to my inbox. Devotions are posted weekly on Monday mornings EST. For Scriptural lists of biblical virtues, see passages such as Colossians 3:12-16, Ephesians 4:2, 1 Timothy 6:11, and Galatians 5:22-23.
*By submitting your devotion you are agreeing to the posting of original content and allowing Abide.Collective to edit the work as needed and for formatting reasons. An image will be provided.
